Founder & Immigration Lawyer
Babs is a qualified lawyer with more than 12 years of experience in UK immigration and nationality law. He is a Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx). Babs is an expert in UK immigration and nationality law and can advise on employment, housing, personal injury, debt, and family law matters. He holds the highest accreditation (level 3) from the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA).
His immigration specialties encompass visitor visas, work and student visas, discretionary leave applications, all family and relationship applications, long residence applications, human rights, EUSS applications, nationality applications, points-based system applications, Caribbean citizenship by investment, European Golden Visas, UK sponsorship license applications, administrative reviews, and appeals. Babs is also a Commissioner for Oaths and is a practicing barrister and solicitor in Nigeria.
He holds a UK law degree, legal practice qualifications, and a master’s degree in philosophy (MPhil), making him a perceptive lawyer. Throughout his career, he has supported over 2000 clients from various nationalities with their immigration issues. He maintains a strong understanding of client expectations and represents them with dedication and empathy, ensuring a satisfactory and prompt service. Moreover, he serves as the compliance officer for the practice and holds an International Compliance Association (ICA) qualification in compliance, KYC, and client due diligence (CDD).
David Willoughby, MSc
Counsel
As a barrister, David advises on advocacy and compliance, excels in dispute resolution, and is consistently recognized for providing exceptional customer service. David Willoughby serves as a barrister and regular counsel to Barking & Brighton, as well as our compliance coach.
With over 30 years of experience in legal compliance, immigration, and asylum law, he has represented clients in more than 1,000 immigration cases, ranging from the First Tier Tribunal to the Supreme Court. His understanding of immigration and human rights law is unmatched. He has maintained an impressive record of success over the past two decades.
David has also been a member of the Department of International Trade UK Advisory Network for several years, where he has delivered immigration seminars worldwide and participated in roundtable meetings and Q&A sessions to promote the UK in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment/Department of International Trade. Davis is a legal consultant at Barking & Brighton Law.
MJ Becks, B.Sc (Hons)
Legal Secretary
MJ is the legal secretary at Barking & Brighton Law. She is an alumna of the prestigious Birkbeck College (University of London), where she earned an honors degree in accounting. With over five years of experience at the firm, she provides essential support to the team. MJ is an admirable person known for her genuine and infectious smile, which makes her the preferred point of contact for clients before they consult with a lawyer. In her role as a legal secretary, she offers administrative and clerical support, handling tasks such as document preparation, client file management, and communication with clients. Key responsibilities include managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and assisting with legal research. Additionally, she provides general administrative support by answering calls, taking messages, and photocopying documents.
